DAVORIN RUDOLF:

Earlier we could depend on the joint wish to solve the dispute, but the change in cabinet changed the atmosphere, says an academic.
“The Croatian part of the Croatian-Slovenian commission to help determine the border has not been dissolved, and when we went to Dezela for a meeting the last time, I voiced regret at the wish of Slovenia to dissolve their part of the commission. The Croatian part of the commission will not be dissolved, we are prepared to negotiate” said Davorin Rudolf, representative of the Croatian part of the commission after a meeting with the Croatian president Stjepan Mesic.
We intend on organizing an international scientific conference that should determine the exact date that Croatia was formed, and it should be held in November this year.
However, the change in the Slovenian cabinet significantly changed the atmosphere. Rudolf insists on handing the case to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, because there are no judges from the countries in dispute there, and because not much can obviously be achieved through negotiations.
Border cannot be prejudiced with drawings
The intermediation is also exhausted, and Rudolf stresses that he will keep in insisting that the dispute be solved at the International Court of Justice, and that the border issue can be brought by the small court council, which usually leads urgent processes.
Davorin Rudolf got upset when we asked him if in the chapter of “rights of trade associations”, which Slovenia blocked on Tuesday, there was any prejudicing of the border.
“The border cannot be prejudiced. It was created by ceremonial act that determined that both countries accept the inherited borders after the fall of Yugoslavia. The border cannot be prejudiced by anything, especially not plans and drawings, because it was made on the compromises of Croatia and Slovenia, therefore, it has been agreed upon” said dr. Rudolf.
Soon the date Croatia was founded will be discussed on an international level
Academic Boris Magas says that he “never even though about how it would be like to own any Slovenian soil”, but told those who were gathered that those concerned about Croatian soil “can sleep soundly”. He is disappointed at the tense bilateral relations, which he evaluates at the worst until now.
Besides the problem with neighbouring Slovenia, he started a conversation about the scientific conference that will be held in November this year.
“We talked to the president about the wish that HAZU (Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts) voiced. We intend on organizing an international scientific conference, that is to determine the exact date that Croatia was formed in 1991, which should be held in November this year. President Mesic accepted our proposal with pleasure and said that he will attend the conference” said academic Boris Magas.
