The brush fires that have been raging near the northern Adriatic resort towns of Crikvenica, Bribir and Selce since Monday morning were mostly put under control on Tuesday morning with the help of four firefighting planes, and the Adriatic highway in that area has been reopened to traffic, the National Protection and Rescue Directorate (DUZS) reported at 11 AM on Tuesday.
The firefighting planes ceased their operations at 10 AM, and 345 firefighters with 85 vehicles and about 100 Croatian Army troops are currently involved in the firefighting effort in that area, the DUZS said. (Hina)
