Building Slovenia-Croatia Border Crossing

Text

In order to accommodate Schengen standards, Slovenia has to adjust 16 pre-existing road border crossings by the end of the year.

Slovenia intends to establish a new cross-border regime towards Croatia on December 1,2007.

Apart from road and railroad crossings, the Schengen region of EU borders will reach the Slovenia-Croatia border and it will include airport crossings which will be done in March 2008, reports ‘Vecernji list’.

It opens a question for Croatian citizens who, as the citizens beyond the Schengen region, can enter EU countries only with passports.

The continental borderline between Croatia and Slovenia is 670 km long and there are 60 border-crossings. There are 25 of them that hold international traffic, 11 are trans-national and 24 are used by those who have passes based upon the Agreement on Border Trade and Cooperation.
