Bulgarian politician Borisov arranged Jocic`s arrest because of the things Jocic told a court regarding his career, media report.
The arrest of Sreten Jocic, aka. Joca Amsterdam, for the murder of Nacional weekly co-founder Ivo Pukanic, was arranged by Bojko Borisov, a candidate for Bulgarian prime minister, the Kurir daily writes. According to the Serbian daily, Jocic did business with the former intelligence agent and Sofia mayor during the 1990s, which Jocic told the Belgrade District Court, adding that Borisov provided Jocic with shelter in Bulgaria at that time.
This statement caused a commotion at the Bulgarian Assembly, which decided to look into Jocic`s claims, which was the reason for Borisov to arrange his arrest to free himself from additional charges, according to the Kurir paper.
The Serbian Prosecution pulled me, their citizen, into showdowns of police-intelligence structures and the Croatian underground, accusing me of the most severe of felonies.
However, according to the Croatian media, the sole responsible person for the arrest of Joca Amsterdam was his best man Slobodan Djurovic aka. The Cardinal. The Vecernji list daily writes that the mystery witness who decided to spill the beans was Djurovic, after finding out that his best man Joca and Robert Matanic were preparing the assassination.
This information was attained when jurisdiction police officers found a message hidden inside a shoe, with Matanic asking the Cardinal to go ahead with the murder. This is when, according to the media, Djurovic told the investigators that Jocic was prepared to pay a million and half euros for the murder of Ivo Pukanic, plus an additional fee, if Pukanic was executed as soon as possible.
Apart from the Ivo Pukanic assassination, Djurkovic told the police about Jocic`s other illegal affairs, i.e. jobs they did for Joca Amsterdam in Bulgaria, according to the Jutarnji list daily.
After being arrested, Djurovic told the police tat he had come to Croatia to collect a debt from Matanic, but soon, the police found fake documents in his possession, which Robert Matanic and his cousin Luka Matanic were supposed to have fled to Serbia with. Soon, Djurovic failed a polygraph test on questions regarding the Pukanic murder.
Furthermore, evidence against Djurovic is a telephone call intercepted by certain secret services last September, in which he announced that something big would happen in Croatia in two weeks` time, the whole of Europe would be talking about.
Apart from Slobodan Djurovic and the Matanic cousins, Amir Mafalani, Bojan Guduric and Zeljko Milovanovic are suspected for the murder of Nacional weekly co-founder Ivo Pukanic and collateral victim Niko Franjic, the paper`s marketing director, who are still at large and the police offer a 100,000 kuna reward for any information. However, the rumour is that Guduric and Milovanovic were killed for knowing too much.
