Jutarnji List daily ran an interview with the PM, however, cabinet spokesperson claims it was – fabricated.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - The Jutarnji List daily editor Davor Butkovic`s interview with the Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, published yesterday, was entirely fabricated, cabinet spokesperson Zlatko Mehun pointed out last night in a conversation with Javno web site.
The paper ran the interview with the PM, entitled “Serbian Radicals Are One More Reason for NATO”, signed by the editor and experienced Jutarnji list columnist Davor Butkovic.
Mehun: Sanader had no contact with Butkovic
- Cabinet president Sanader had no contact with Butkovic for the past several days, therefore he could not have given the disputable interview – Mehun added.
At the same time, the government`s office issued an announcement, printing such a fabrication was a highly unprofessional, unethical and malevolent act that could bear consequences on the realised level of democratic relations in the Croatian society.
We tried to get the other side of the story from the editorial board of the Jutarnji List daily, but the author of the alleged interview, Davor Butkovic, did not answer. We also tried contacting the editor in chief Tomislav Wruss, who answered, but asked us to call him back in half an hour. Half an hour later, the phone rang, but nobody answered.
You can read about the interview which ran in the Jutarnji List HERE.
