Cardiologist Suspected Of Requesting Bribe

A new case of bribery in the Rijeka hospital. This time, it is cardiologist dr. Luka Zaputovic who is suspected of bribery.

Namely, after an investigation against dr. Ognjen Simic motioned, also a Rijeka-based surgeon, a new case of bribery was discovered with his colleague dr. Luka Zaputovic.

Head of the Intern medicine Department with the Medical Faculty in Rijeka and cardiologist of the Rijeka hospital is suspected of taking bribery in November 2005, in the amount of 7,000 kuna.

Zaputovic requested the amount from a patient and his wife in order for him to be administered to the ward for further treatment.

According to USKOK (Repression of corruption and organised crime Agency) claims, the patient`s wife handed over a white envelope containing 150 euro to dr. Zaputovic, saying that this was only a minor amount, and how they will get by for the rest.

Following that, in December 2005, the cardiologist checked in the patient to the ward, the Jutarnji list daily reports.
