- The decision was brought by the minister Komadina and myself. I don’t seek obedience which I despise, but loyalty. This kind of a statement coming from somebody from a third echelon couldn’t have ended different way - said the PM Zoran Milanovic while justifying the replacement of Vladimir Ferdelji, the assistant of the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure Zlatko Komadina. The incident happened due to Ferdelji’s statement for Globus newspaper when he criticized the current Government activity. Furthermore, Ferdelji said for the interview that ‘‘the Government doesn’t have courage to introduce reforms of state administration, and it trifles with property taxes’’. He actually made huge critics of the Government that he had recently just started to work for.

- Sorry! - Milanovic added while making comments about Ferdelji getting fired, and the apology on English has been actually directed to the citizens. Due to a recklessness coming from Ferdelji and from Milanovic as well, this will cost the citizens six months of wages they will have to pay to this former official of Elektorkontat who didn’t even start to do the job he has been hired for.

And what was Ferdelji supposed to do? Believe it or not, this ‘’third echelons of officials’’, as Milanovic called him, was supposed to do his real job. Not to tell stories or sell demagogy or ideology, not to deceive public with fake promises. The real job was waiting for him, not visits of protocol.

Furthermore, Ferdelji was supposed to monitor and operate restructuring of state firms, those big ones - Croatian Motorways, Croatian Roads, Motorways Rijeka-Zagreb, Croatian railways...

So few thing are not clear inhere.

As first, to name someone, who was supposed to monitor restructuring of state mastodons, as only a ‘’third echelons of officials’’ is rather contemptuously since the public is getting this message: He is completely unimportant in this chain.

As second, if he was ‘’only’’ the third echelon, why was he appointed on such serious, conscientious, and heavy duties?

And the last, this third echelon was supposed to do something; he has been chosen by the first two echelons - Milanovic and Komadina. Well, if two echelons of officials can’t pick the third one, than there is a certain possibility that there is something wrong with one of the first two echelons. And maybe there is something wrong with both of them. Especially since they must have known what type of person would have been competent for operating this job.

If they considered Ferdelji as enough expert and competent for such position they appointed him for, than they have most certainly had to know for his (un)fortunate characteristics... And that is his sharp tongue while he talks without too much of thinking. As we could say - an impulsive person who talks too much without thinking about the consequences.

It is clear that Vladimir Ferdelji wasn’t supposed to give an interview where he insults the Government since he isn’t the president Ivo Josipovic who clearly shares his opinion - that the Government doesn’t have a clear economic strategy, and it finds it hard to dismiss people from state administrations since many people would lost their jobs and end up on a street...

But if Ferdelji has already rushed with statements, Milanovic and Komadina could have performed the ‘’punishment’’ is some much more elegant way, as once they did minding Slavko Linic who, during the midst of election campaign,  performed as a solo player of Kukuriku economic strategy that was in not accordance with the official program. It was simple; they sat, talked with Linic ‘’explaining’’ him why such statements are harmful for the coalition.

They could have done the same thing with Ferdelji if they really cared about him. But they didn’t. This way, after Ferdelji had been the assistant of the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure for even 21 days, they threw him away to the citizens to handle his cost for the next six months. And they said:

- Sorry, this kind of a statement coming from somebody from a third echelon couldn’t have ended different way.

And we say back: Sorry Zoky, this is a disgrace of first two echelons!
