Cessna Pilots’ Remains Transferred to Hospital

Text

Zdravko Janic held a non-scheduled press conference in which he revealed the cause of the crash and gave thanks for help.

The remains of four bodies have been found on the top of Velebit mountain, on the north side of the Vagan peak. The pilots were aboard a Cessna aircraft that crashed there a few days ago. Members of the special police found the remains today, which were taken to the hospital in Gospic, said the commander of the special police Zdravko Janic at a press conference in Gospic today.

-.-MUP.hr-.-He said that the search for the missing place is complete, and that the wreckage of the aircraft has been found, as well as the remains of the pilot and passengers. He said that according to everything found at the crash site, it is visible that the Cessna crashed into the rocks at full speed. The aircraft broke to pieces, and its pieces and remains of the pilots ended up in the area under the Vagan peak, and the death of the crew and passengers probably occurred instantaneously, said Janic.

Due to fresh snow on Velebit, and the hard conditions in that area which is mined, it is expected that the extraction of the bodies will last from five to ten days, depensing on the weather, because it is very hampered, he said.

We will not return until we find all body remains

He reminded that his colleague was injured in that region yesterday, who was consciously and responsibly doing his job. There is a great danger of avalanches in that region, so the procedure is very slow, but we will be persistent and we will not return until we find all of the body remains of the casualties, said Janic.

He stressed that it is only possible to reach the scene of the crash using specialised mopuntain climbing equipment, and only trained people can do so. He thanked everyone who participated in the search and rescue.

When the press asked what was next, Janic said that, when possible, an expert analysis will held to identify the victims of the plane crash.
