On Saturday 26th of May the primary school students celebrated the 5th day of Universal Sports School. They also celebrated the International Olympic Day.
There were about 800 children from 21 Croatian Counties. They presented their skills in various sports and in that way promoted the message of Olympic unity and fair play. The students from the Faculty of Kinesiology volunteer at this event every year. They have prepared different activities for the children including shot put, running, long jump to cricket and hockey on grass. The students enjoyed meeting the former Olympic Games participants Ivano Balic, Gordan Kozulj, Zoran Primorac, Danira Nakic and Andro Knego.
The celebration was organized by the Croatian School Sports Association and Croatian Olympic Committee. They were supported by Croatian Olympic Academy and the Olympic Club. The event was held under auspices of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports.
The International Olympic Day celebrates the idea of the Olympics. The idea was born on the 23rd of June 1894 in Paris, at Sorbonne University. Every year the idea is celebrated from more than 200 national Olympic Committees in the world.
