Cigelj: I Leave It On HDZ`s Soul

After the confrontation with Jadranka Kosor, heads of HDZ decided to most severely punish Jadranka Cigelj and expel her from the party.

Today her Pescenica branch did it, according to the dictate from the party`s top. Namely, this was announced lately by the secretary general Ivan Jarnjak, therefore her exclusion was only a question of the exact day.

Still, the reason for expellment from the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) is interesting and it might cost the Vice-Premier Jadranka Kosor a great deal. Namely, Kosor stated how Cigelj did not have any right to request the security check of the civil society development Commission because its members do not have contact with any documents which might endanger national security.

-Only under such a condition would it be acceptable for a head of the Department to request the check, however as the Commission for the civil society development is appointed by the government, then it is only in the governmental jurisdiction to demand the check- said the Vice-Premier.

On the other hand, the dismissed Jadranka Cigelj is satisfied with the party branch decision.

-I am satisfied with the reasons why they expelled me. I leave it up to their souls- she said in an interview for Javno.
