Continuation of War Crime Probe Demanded

Text

Glavas's health is much better, and the State Attorney is demanding the continuation of the probe into war crimes in Osijek in 1991.

Kresimir Devcic, a judge at Zagreb County Court announced the reviewing of a decision of suspending the ongoing investigation into Branimir Glavas. According to the recent documentation, Glavas's health is much better and he even gained three kilogrammes.

Zdenko Posavec, an investigative judge who is in charge of the inquiry into war crimes allegedly committed by Glavas and Fehir, will call experts to re-examine the recent Glavas documentation and give their expert opinion about his ability to take part in the investigation.

The decision on ongoing investigation does not mean that Glavas will necessary go into custody again. Judge Devcic says that there is no precedent, but the custody could be in question again if the State Attorney approaches in that sense, ‘Jutarnji List’ reports.

Branimir Glavas began a hunger strike in October of last year after he was detained at a Zagreb prison for allegedly commanding the killing of Serb civilians in the eastern Croatian town of Osijek in 1991. After 37 days of hunger strike, the Zagreb County Court in December released Glavas who was transferred to Osijek hospital due to his very poor health. The investigation was suspended at the time.
