Soldiers will visit some hundred mass graves around Croatia, lay wreaths and light candles during five days.
A five-day convoy dubbed “So As Not to Forget – 2,500 Kilometres Across Croatia” under the auspices of Vice-Premier Jadranka Kosor started off today in front of the Memorial to killed and missing persons at Zagreb’s Crematorium.
This is the eight Homeland War soldiers’ convoy. This year some fifty Homeland War soldiers will visit mass graves in Croatia. In this way they want to pay homage and relay gratitude to all killed, missing and deceased Homeland War soldiers and civilians of the Homeland War and to remind of the 145 so far discovered mass graves. They will request of those in charge to find and convict all criminals that had taken part in such killings, most of whom had not been punished.
The convoy is organised by the Podravka Association of Homeland War Soldiers, Invalids and Widows and the Homeland War Soldiers Association Ina-Naftaplin.
Participants of the convoy will visit Karlovac County after Zagreb and continue to Gospic, Zadar, Skabrnja, Knin, Glina, Sisak, Petrinja, Vukovar, Vinkovci, Osijek and Bjelovar. During the five days they will visit some hundred mass grave sites across Croatia, lay wreaths and light candles.
Participants of the convoy will on May 30 greet the ninth Homeland War soldiers’ regatta at the Vuka estuary in Vukovar that is organised in memory of killed soldiers by the Podravka soldiers’ association. The regatta started off on May 21 from the Drava bridge near Botovo.
