Corruption Office Investigating Match Rigging

USKOK director added that the famous corruption cases at Croatian Radio Television were not the only ones under investigation.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – Director of the Office for the Prevention of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK) Dinko Cvitan confirmed for Javno that the criminal investigation was underway in the case of the football championship, during the forum “Civil society and state co-operation in implementing measures in fighting corruption”.

- I cannot talk about the development of the investigation. In case the suspicions are confirmed, everything will depend on the Croatian Football Association – Cvitan said.

When asked if the investigation was started after RTL TV Network broadcast a statement of an anonymous man who openly commented that the match between Dinamo and Hajduk football clubs was rigged, Cvitan said the investigation has not been opened.

- There is reasonable doubt for this – Cvitan commented yesterday`s investigation, compared to a case two months ago.

Cvitan also confirmed that a criminal investigation was currently underway about the scandal at the Croatian Radio Television and that the case of Slavonski Brod Mayor Mirko Duspara and the show which were stated were not the only cases being investigated at the public TV network.
