County Council Seeks Closure of Rockwool

Text

The association “Our Land” plans a peaceful protest during the sitting of the government of the Istria County, which will discuss Rockwool.

The association “Our Land” received a permit for a public gathering from the police station in Pazin, for a peaceful protest on December 15, during the sitting of the Istrian County government, which will discuss the Rockwool factory issue.

As we find out from the president of the Pican local council, Kristina Djorovic, as one of the interested parties of the locality, will go before the Istria County government with the demand for the closure of the rock wool company, Rockwool.

“The justification of our request is that we consider that a lot of it is questionable. From the view if the actions that Rockwool undertook to get a construction permit were legal, all to the latest measurements, which, according to us, do not say anything” says Djurovic.

The theme of closing Rockwool will also be a topic of discussion in the Krsan locality, where the ecological associations together with the governance of Krsan will take the same demand before the council members.

The Istrian politicians will see what the local citizens think about Rockwool with their visit to the Istria County government meeting, which is scheduled for 5pm in Pazin. According to the words of the president of the eco-group “Our Land”, Matilda Ilic, the protest will be held on the plateau in front of the Pazin “Spomen Dom” building, in which the government sits, starting around 4pm and, according to the police permit, it is expected to last until 9pm.
