Croatian Gas System Stabilised

Text

The Croatian gas system has been stabilised by gas supply restrictions, redirecting Italian gas to Croatia and intervention imports.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – The Croatian gas supply system has been additionally stabilised after the introduction of measures restricting gas supply, by redirecting Italian gas produced in Northern Adriatic to Croatia in the amount of 30,000 cubic metres per hour and with the intervention import of gas from Hungary and Germany.

The gas supply of protected clients is still secured, the Economy Ministry said in a statement Sunday.

The ministry again called on gas distributors to deliver gas in amounts sufficient for maintaining the technical characteristics of plants for all companies.

The Croatian oil company Ina’s Italian partner, Eni, on Saturday let Ina have half of its gas from Northern Adriatic, by which some 30,000 cubic metres of gas per hour are being supplied to Croatia.

The intervention import of gas from Hunrary and Germany, arranged with the MOL and EON Ruhrgas companies began on Sarutday morning.

With the current dynamics of gas consumption and the introduced 5th and 6th stages of measures of restrictions, Croatia currently has enough gas for 19 to 20 days unless something changes.

With the aim of further reductions, as of 8am on Saturday, measures of the 5th and 6th degrees came into effect, which is necessary to maintain the pressure in the system from pumping gas from the pipeline’s accumulative reserves.

This means that all factories will be left without gas. But protected users, such as schools, hospitals and households will keep receiving gas.
