Croatian Heritage Rests On Anti-Fascism, Not NDH

Text

SDP vice president commented that it was a sad thing that Piran Bay dived into World War II.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – Vice president of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Zlatko Komadina dismissed claims of Slovene National Council, which stated that Croatia has never clearly disowned the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) [a puppet state o Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy during World War II, from 1941 until 1945].

- We are not a successor of the NDH, but our heritage was founded on anti-fascism – Komadina told reporters during a break of the party`s Main Committee sitting.

- It is a sad fact that Piran Bay has dived into World War II, because one needs to be constructive and not return to the fog of the past – Komadina continued.

Komadina believes that Croatia needs to display calmness and self-composure and refrain itself from intense reactions to the Slovenian claims.

In its records from a recent sitting, the committee for European and international issues of the Slovene National Council proposed MPs to “consider relations with Croatia in the light of its alleged NDH heritage”.

The records state that the NDH is still in a way present on the Croatian political scene and that today`s Croatia “has not apologised for the NDH crimes”.
