Croatian Indictment Milder Than the Tribunal's?

Text

Norac and Ademi were not accused for commanding crime in the indictment, and the goal was not ethnic clensing liberation.

By Croatian law, it is not possible to be accused ‘alternatively’ as it is at the Tribunal, where the generals were accused of direct encouragement, helping and ordering a crime.

Legal experts think that the Croatian indictment is milder because the accused did not command a crime. The Croatian attorneys do not claim that it was about ethnic cleansing but it was an operation of liberation the area, ‘Vecernji list’ reports.

The main thing they were charged with is negligence for not stopping the crimes after the Pocket 93 operation even though they were aware of them. They were accused for commanding the action in which civilians were killed and houses were destroyed. The indictment, apart from civilan victim, is charging them for killing prisoners of war.
