Of the 30 submitted projects, only six were granted for financing as part of the Science Cooepration Programme.
ZAGREB, CROATIA – In the next two years, Croatian scientists at home and abroad will be given 6.5 million kuna for joint projects of Croatian universities and institutes.
The Ministry of Science, Education and Sports signed late last year agreements on the implementation of six scientific and technological projects of the “Unity with the Help of Knowledge” Foundation, which will be financed as part of the Science Cooperation Programme.
Out of the total 30 submitted projects, six were chosen to be granted funding – with the help of more than 80 top experts in various areas.
The projects that will be financed were chosen by reviewers and two commissioners of the Foundation. Thus, the projects, apart from having scientific and technological value, have been harmonised with the Foundation’s goals, such as the stimulation of research that is competitive in the world, as well as those that create new values in the Croatian economy or contribute to the development of the scientific system in Croatia.
The Foundation “Unity with the Help of Knowledge” began functioning in 1997 and has so far financed 38 projects from areas of scientific cooperation, stimulation of mobility of researchers, making research commercial and the protection of intellectual property, as well as support to young scientists. The Foundation has available five million euros.
