Czechs Will Bring Plan for Croatian EU Negotiation

Text

The Czech Republic intends on compiling a plan for the continuation of Croatian accession negotiations with the EU.

The Czech presidency of the European Union will try to solve the Slovenian – Croatian dispute and the continuation of the Croatian accession negotiations with the EU, and will be active in that, but unbiased, said the Czech ambassador in Ljubljana, Ivana Hlasova to parliamentarians of the Slovenian parliament, telling them the priorities of the Czech presidency of the EU.

She explained that the Czech Republic wants to find an exit from the current holdup in European Interests, but at the same time does not see the role of the Czech Republic or the EU in solving a border dispute that is of a bilateral nature.

Summarising the stance of his colleagues, the president of the foreign politics board of the Slovenian parliament Ivo Vajgl, said that it would not be a good sign if the EU did not consider every member a fully equal member. Vajgl said that in Slovenia’s accession process with the EU, they had bilateral issues with Italy, but that they had to give in and change their constitution, and allow Italians to buy real estate in Slovenia, because no EU member stood on Slovenia’s side, but showed solidarity to Italy.

On the basis of information that they received from both sides, the Czech Republic intends on compiling a plan for the continuation of Croatian accession negotiations with the EU, and is communicating well with Ljubljana and Zagreb, said ambassador Hlasova to the Slovenian parliamentarians.
