Decision on Hall Next Week

Text

The talk was about direct settlements that turned media attention, for which city authorities were accused of fishing in troubled waters.

The president of the Holding Management, Slobodan Ljubicic, said on the Tomislav Jelincic show on RTL that the city authorities would reach a decision next week whether the handball hall with 18,000 seats would be built in Laniste in Zagreb or the ‘Dom Sportova’ would be renewed.

-‘Dom Sportova’ is in poor condition and it has to be reconstructed. At the same time, the experts said that the Laniste location is the best for building the hall. The decision will be made next week – said Ljubicic. He added that it would not be a problem for Zagreb to finance the hall construction even though there are 800 million kuna less that were taken by the state in the redistribution of income tax.

Tomislav Jelincic asked Mayor Bandic to come, but he excused himself due to his schedule, so the president of Holding came instead of him, with Damir Polancec, Radimir Cacic, Lino Cervar and Zorislav Antun Petrovic from ‘Transparency International’.

They talked about the bidding through direct settlements that caused a big discussion and the city authorities were blamed for ‘fishing in troubled waters'.

-There is a perception about great corruption, but it is not the truth, only 0.5% of the bidding was annulled. In some cases, for example, when you buy a Mercedes, you have to buy it from the one who produces it. We do not do anything illegal if we make a contract through direct settlement if no one else applies – said Ljubicic.
