There are currently 295 members of the Croatian contingent taking part in NATO’s mission in the war-torn Afghanistan.
ZAGREB, CROATIA – Croatian Defence Minister Branko Vukelic arrived in Kabul on Monday for a visit to members of the Croatian Armed Forces who are taking part in NATO’s ISAF mission in Afghanistan.
Vukelic was greeted at the airport in Kabul by Croatian military police and the medical team, after which they drove him in a protected motorcade to the Warehouse ISAF base in Kabul where members of the 13th Croatian contingent are based.
Vukelic will get to know the conditions of life and work in the mission in which the 13th Croatian contingent with 295 members are located in three regional command centres, in the north and west regions and the capital, Kabul. During his visit to Afghanistan, he will speak with NATO and UN high officials, as well as the first vice-president of Afghanistan, Ahmad Zia Massoud.
Vukelic will also visit the town of Mazar e Sharif in northern Afghanistan where members of the Croatian Armed Forces are taking part in training the Afghan National Army (ANA).
