Delinquent Admits To Beating Luka Ritz

Six persons were brought in by the Zagreb police this morning. Allegedly, a young man with a previous record, confessed to beating Ritz up.

ZAGREB, CROATIA – Zagreb police have brought in six young men, which are suspected to be linked to the beating up of 19-year-old high school graduate Luka Ritz, who died in hospital due to severe head injuries.

According to unofficial information, the investigators have identified one of six detained minors and younger men of age, as responsible for inflicting injuries which caused the death of Luka Ritz. Allegedly, the young man confessed it himself. The person in question is a youth from Zagreb`s Dugave quarter, previously known to the police for numerous reports.

- We will provide more information on this arrest after the criminal investigation is finalised. So far, Goran Rusmir-.--.-Posters for Luka Ritz`s killera large number of people were brought in and we have not found the perpetrator. What will happen with this one, we will know later – Krunoslav Borovec, police spokesperson, told us when asked if the arrested youth was Luka Ritz`s attacker.

Zagreb police spokesperson Aleksandra Ljuba told us that interviews concerning the murder of young Ritz are conducted almost on a daily basis, but the felony has not been solved so far.

Young Luka was attacked during the night on June 1 in Zagreb. After inflicted injuries, he sought medical assistance and was released home. Ten days later, he died from the consequences of the attack.

After his death, the police have drafter a photo fit of the attacker and over a 1,000 persons were brought in for questioning. However, the killer has still not been found. Luka`s friends, crushed with his death, put up posters across Zagreb with the sign reading: “Zagreb, why do you protect a killer?”, in order to make the police find the perpetrator of this serious offence.

Recently, Croatian Minister of Science, Education and Sports Dragan Primorac has presented the annual Luka Ritz award for promoting tolerance and schools without violence, which will be presented to pupils every year.
