The man from Split called police and said that he chocked his mother, but pathologists reveal that her wounds were caused by a dull object.
Dino Babic, a 22-year-old man from Split killed his mother, Silvana Babic, on Sunday at around 9:30 pm. A brutal crime occurred in Getaldic Street where they lived together.
After the young man committed a crime, he called the police and told them that he thinks that he killed his mother. The police met Dino Babic at the door of the apartment after which Babic told them that he believes that he strangled the victim.
Police then entered the apartment and found a lifeless body of a 44-year-old woman lying on the floor. Traces of the blood were then noticed around a corpse which suggests that the son did more than ‘just’ strangle her.
Antonio Alujevic, pathologist on duty, examined the body and found that apart from the strangulation marks, the body showed traces of being hit with a dull object.
Babic reportedly abused drugs
Neighbors, who reportedly knew them only superficially, said that the victim was perceived as a reclusive and modest woman, while her son was seen as troubled and possibly prone to drugs. They also claim that they have not heard any voices coming from the apartment during the murder.
Police arrested and detained Babic for the purposes of the criminal examination. Investigation lasted for several hours and it was performed by the investigating judge with the assistance of the coroner and the police.
