SERBIAN ELECTIONS AND US

Do Not Let Us Die Tomorrow Again

Text

Serbia did not mature because it was not forced to it yet. The international community pampers it.

Croatia is still in the surroundings which world investment giants cal limitedly safe. One of the reasons for the region insecurity lies in the structure of Serbian authorities as well, which was supposed to change even on the just finalised elections. How did our media cover these elections? Extensively, convincingly and superficially. I believe the main issue for us is: What can Croatia expect after the Serbian elections?

Is Serbia heading for democracy?

Most of our media claim Serbia is finally heading for democracy. Is this the case? Now, after the election findings, we must come to our senses. Our optimism was torn to shreds when we found out the winners were war criminal Seselj radicals once again, for which 1.5 million citizens of Serbia voted!

These are the ones who praise the executioner and his great Serbia up to the line Virovitica – Karlovac – Karlobag. Assumptions remain will democrat Kostunica form a coalition with them, who still does not declare anything. This shows his determination for changes best, which is conditioned by the premier seat.

Bora Corba is a member of his party, who represented himself on Croatian television as Chetnik and cries over the occupation of Knin, and like the radical Tomislav Nikolic says great Serbia does not have to happen now, it can happen in ten year`s time! Clearly, they want our sons to war again.

Bitter radical taste

Tadic, representative of the other Serbian democrats, does not declare himself because it is more important for him to have a premier of “his own” rather than to create a fast and clear antiradical coalition. Tadic defends the radicals that they are not only ultranationalists, but they also have a social programme as well. Well, do not any other Serbian democrats have one?!

His advisor Vuk Jeremic declares Kosovo will not get autonomy, because the final decision will be brought by the Security Council and they count here on international friends of the current position. If we add to that how the supporters of the late executor Milosevic remain in the Serbian parliament with ten representatives, a bitter radical taste remains.

Democratic spice is still in small doses. Serbia does not mature because it has not been forced to it yet. The international community pampers it and does not force it to recognise the aggression against Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina. They do not force it to repent for its crimes in Vukovar, Skabrnja, Srebrenica and hundreds of other scaffolds Europe does not remember since the time of fascism.

HDZ was never radical

Europe knew how to condemn first fascism in the 40`s, finally with a recent resolution it condemned the second fascism which was covered up under the name of communist parties. The great Serbian aggression from the nineties remains the only unpunished fascist movement of modern Europe, which backfired in its condemnation due to low political interests. We are all paying for it now, and Serbian radicals still promote all possible solutions for the fulfillment of their dreams of great Serbia.

Milorad Pupovac in Croatia says how even the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) was radical. What sort of a comparison is this? He forgot this HDZ never reached for Serbia, and Serbian radicals openly reach for Croatia. As I am writing this, there is still no mutual democrats` coalition, which is a sign of their, at least tactical, flirting with the radicals. For someone reasonable this is enough.

The greatest debt for world politics falling from the path of the truth is paid by Croatia. We have been reading for years in the world media about the civil war in Croatia. If that was a civil war, then the term civil war should be changed in all dictionaries because in this war the only “citizens” had military airplanes, tanks, navy and cannons, while others hunting riffles.

Sin of the Croatian media

I am surprised how our media did not show the radical side of the medal of the Serbian elections which did not and will not change hardly a thing. In stead of worrying our own worries, we imposed to the home public somebody else`s worries. In stead of an instruction, we wander in analyses.

As always, the national television heads the side-tracking. in stead of invitig our representatives who will explain how there will be no recognition of aggression, discovery of the fates of the disappeared, condemn the line Virovitica – Karlovac – Karlobag, apologies for crimes, in the show “Otvoreno” guests are only one Croatian representative with four Serbian ones. Thus we heard what they plan, but we did not hear how we are supposed to act.

Croatia gave great sacrifices for the country`s creation and liberation. It consciously took on numerous renunciations for the classification with the European civilization column. Let us come to our senses! Our ancestors dies, we died, do not our sons die tomorrow!

We should realise that with these kind of election results Serbia is still patting in one place and sinking into the Balkan mud-hole. This is a chance for Croatia to speed up towards the shelter of safety. This shelter, in spite of the odd policy towards recent past, is called EU and NATO. Has anyone got a better idea after the results of our neighbour`s elections?

Yours, Andrija Hebrang, D. Sc. Prof.
