Text
Disputed sign was posted on the ticket register at the bus station in Zagreb and its authors are still unknown.
Ticket register at the bus station in Zagreb recently displayed a sign that said “Do not touch Roms – they are infected.” Internal investigation aiming to discover its authors has already been launched.
Ante Cicvaric, director of the bus station in Zagreb, tried to justify the scandal by saying that Roms are disrespectful towards their passengers, that they push them, spit on them, beg for money and curse them.
However, Cicvaric did condemn the sign and said that the employee who worked during the time it got posted has been giving a pre-discharge warning. Disputed worker, on the other hand, says that she does not know anything about it, media reports.
President of the Croatian Helsinki Committee, Zvonimir Cicak, said that he could not believe that something as shameful as this could happen in today’s Zagreb. He announced sending a note of protest to the bus station’s management.
