In the context of ongoing discussions on a delay in the sale of the state-run shipyard Brodosplit to the Samobor-based private company DIV, the Economy Ministry stated on Thursday that by signing a sales contract the document would become an executive document that would enable the buyer to seek compensation for their claims from the state budget.

Therefore it is necessary to find money in the state budget prior to the signing of the sales contract, the ministry told Hina in answer to its query.

With the signing of the document, the buyer can activate their claim for receiving a state subsidy for the restructuring of the dock, and funds for this purpose should be ensured, according to the ministry's explanation.

The ministry recalled that on 16 July 2012 a draft contract for the sale of Brodosplit as well as an amended restructuring plan, with changes relating to the pace of financing restructuring costs, were forwarded to the European Commission and a month later Brussels gave its go-ahead. (Hina)
