Experts Confirm Cedomir Vuckovic Was Poisoned

Text

Davor Strinovic, an expert doctor, claims that the Osijek Serb Cedomir Vuckovic died from sulphuric acid poisoning.

OSIJEK, CROATIA - The trial of the former Croatian general Branimir Glavas, and those accused for war crimes against Osijek’s Serbs in the so called “Garage” and “Selotape” cases, continued today at the Zagreb County Court. The court heard reports by court medical experts, toxicologists and ballistics experts.

The medical expert Davor Strinovic remained with his findings from 2006, claiming that the Serbian citizen of Osijek, Cedomir Vuckovic, died a violent death, more precisely, from being poisoned with sulphuric acid. According to the claims of the attorney’s office, he was forced to drink it in the garage of the secretariat for national defence, which was headed by Glavas in 1991.

The expert repeated that death could have occurred a few hours after drinking the liquid, or a few days even.

Reuters-.--.-Branimir Glavas was born on September 23 in Osijek. He graduated from Osijek Law School. He was a participant of the HDZ founding sitting held on June 17, 1989 in Zagreb. He was elected as an MP at the first democratic parliamentary elections in Croatia. On December 7. 1991 he was named Osijek defence commander. For his contribution in the homeland defence, Glavas was named major general of the Croatian Army. After Osijek defence ceased existing, he was named assistant commander of the First operation zone Osijek. On May 30, 1992 he was elected president of the Executive council of Osijek County Assembly. At the elections in February 1993, he was elected MP. On April 14, 1993 he was elected as the first prefect of the Osijek-Baranja County. HE was elected MP in October 1995.Torture in the garage

After drinking acid from a battery, Vuckovic was wounded with two shots from a gun to the stomach and lower arm by the crown prosecution witness Krunoslav Fehir, but according to the expert’s findings, the wounds were not fatal.

The surface wounds of the face and forehead, which were also determined by the autopsy on Vuckovic, could have been caused by a blow with a blunt object, like the butt of a gun, baseball bat or foot.

The toxicologist Zdravko Kovacic, who performed an autopsy on Vuckovic in September 1991, also remained with his findings that the stomach of the victim contained lethal doses of acid.

Unlike his previous analysis, in which he claimed that it was not possible to determine from what distance somebody fired at Vuckovic, the ballistics expert Rade Stojadinovic concluded at today’s discussion that the distance was around seven meters.

After Vuckovic was murdered, some media wrote that a terrorist “chetnik” was in question that was killed in an attempted assassination against Glavas.

The trial will continue tomorrow with three witnesses giving their testimonies.
