The former Croatian Ambassador to Belgium was sentenced for domestic abuse is still in France when he should have been in jail today.
ZAGREB, CROATIA – As things are now, the former Croatian Ambassador to Belgium, Ljubomir Cucic, will not report to Zagreb’s Remetinec prison where he should begin serving his one-year sentence. We managed to contact Cucic, who is still in Paris, where he is fighting for custody of his children.
Cucuc was supposed to report to the prison on October 27, but he filed a motion for postponement. The judge of the County Court in Sisak refused Cucic’s motion and set his final deadline for reporting to the Zagreb prison for November 5, that is, today.
Cucic was sentenced to a year in prison for abusing his former wife, Magali Boers, whom he systematically assaulted, insulted and beat from March 2001 through May 2003 in Zagreb and Brussels, even when she was pregnant. This year Cucic was in court again for kidnapping his child, but the Sisak judge acquitted Cucic, his current wife Natasa and their friend.
