Members of the Croatian Army will distribute beans to their fellow citizens at Zagreb’s Bundek lake from 12 to 2pm.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - The central ceremony for Croatia’s Statehood Day, with the Croatian Army members standing in alignment, will be held on June 25 at 11am, at Zagreb’s Josip Jelacic Square, where besides the attendance high officials, there will be many of Zagreb’s citizens.
According to protocol, like earlier years, the mayor’s office, the Zagreb city and state delegation have stated that they will lay wreathes and light candles at Mirogoj Cemetery before the central ceremony. After that there will be a mass for all of the deceased veterans and victims of the Croatian War of Independence at Saint Mark’s Church.
The laying of the wreathes will start at 8am in front of the remembrance ‘wall of pain’, and will continue at the central cross in Croatian veterans alley, the grave of the first Croatian president doctor Franjo Tudjman, and the joint grave of the unidentified victims of the Croatian War of Independence at the crematorium.
Wreathes will be laid in the name of the city of Zagreb by the mayor of Zagreb Milan Bandic, the president of the Zagreb city government Boris Sprem and the deputy mayors Jelena Pavicic and Ivo Jelusic.
At the Bundek lake between 12 and 2pm, members of the Croatian Army will distribute two thousand servings of beans to their fellow citizens. In the afternoon hours, as a part of the program “Summer at Bundek”, Zagreb’s residents will be able to enjoy the musical “Janis Joplin” for free, which will be performed by the theatre “Komedija” (Comedy), on the stage there. The musical will start at 9pm.
