Besides family and friends, around 2,500 people attended the funeral of general and state secretary Gordan Cacic.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - The general and state secretary Gordan Cacic has been buried at Zagreb’s Mirogoj Cemetery. Besides his family, friends and associates, a total of around 2,500 people came to his funeral.
Members of the cabinet, military head and members of the army, came to say their final farewell. The following people attended the funeral: Vladimir Seks, the Minister of Defence Ivan Vukelic, general Ljubo Cesic Rojs, major general Marinko Kresic, the Minister of Internal Affairs Tomislav Karamarko and his predecessor the former minister Berislav Rončevic, the former head of police Marijan Benko and Jasenko Houra. The funeral was led by Juraj Jezerinac, and speeches in Cacic’s honour were made by members of his “podsused company”. Mate Rabota voiced condolence to Cacic’s family in the name of the Ministry of Defence and the Croatian Armed Forces.
“Dear Gordon, I did not think that we would lose you so fast” said Rabot. Members of his military company remembered the times of war, and Gordan Cacic being injured at the start of the Croatia War of Independence.
With a honour guard, the orchestra of the Croatian Army and Slavonian tambura band, the whole funeral was attended by a large number of military and civilian police, in order to make sure that everything passes in the best order.
“The deceased general Cacic was God’s gift to his family, friends, co-fighters and all of Croatia” were the words of Juraj Jezerinac.
