Text
Judge Wolfgang Schomburg issued a secret order to the Hague Tribunal secretary, to check with Croatia if Markac violated freedom conditions.
By Hague Tribal order, the Croatian police are investigating whether the Hague suspect for war crimes, general Mladen Markac, violated the terms of his temporary freedom. This was confirmed by his lawyer Goran Mikulic and the police spokesperson Krunoslav Borovec.
- The police started investigating all of the circumstances connected to the case – said Markac’s lawyer Mikulic. Borovec said that the police received a request from the Cabinet’s office for cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, and that he should act accordingly. He also said that he must not speak about its contents until it is complete.
Amongst other things, nobody wanted to mention the current location of Markac, or if he is at home or being held by the police.
According to a court decision from February 9, 2007, from which Markac was allowed to defend himself from freedom, amongst other things he must remain inside Croatia.
Croatia must detain him is he violates any of the prescribed conditions.
