General’s Wife Considers Trial a Political Act

Text

The wife of the convicted general claims she finds it hard to live with three children in Vienna, and often borrows money to pay off loans.

Klerisa Zagorec, the wife of the Croatian general Vladimir Zagorec, believes that the Supreme Court should, if they want to keep the dignity of the Croatian justice system, cancel the seven year prison sentence in the invalid verdict that they gave to him.

Zagorec’s wife is also the mother of two of his children, and the stepmother of Zagorec’s son from his first marriage. She claims that the verdict made has brought a catastrophe into their family. Besides that, she is angry at the Croatian media, because four and a half months ago they did not report on the headlines in the Austrian media, that the trial was politically set up. Klerisa, who graduated from the faculty of architecture, currently lives and works in Vienna, but does not consider her life in the Austrian city to be good, because of her constant need for lawyers she has to give a lot of money, so she takes loans often, it says in an exclusive interview for Vecernji List.

Klerisa states that she constantly monitors events relating to her husband from Vienna, mostly on the internet. She is disappointed at the Croatian media, but is happy with the new issue of Globus, in which she claims they showed a real portrayal of her husband, for which they say is an educated man.

Zagorec’s assets not worth millions

Zagorec’s wife strongly criticised president Stjepan Mesic’s behaviour after the verdict, and considers that it is obvious that a political, and not a legal process was in question. She is bothered that her husband’s medals were criticised, because Vladimir certainly did not give them to himself.

Besides that, she claims that Zagorec has not received any pension up until now, but she listed a few apartments that they owned, of which one of them is their former apartment in Pavle Hatza Street, where they lived as a family. She stressed that they own a business premises in Ilica Street that is not yet fit for use, or paid for yet either.

The Zagorec family owns one house on the island of Krk, for which they rarely pay their loan payment, because they claim that they have nowhere to pay the 750,000 euros from, which is how much the property is worth. They also mentioned the topic of the edited photograph that showed Ivana Hodak sitting in Vladimir Zagorec’s lap. Klerisa evaluated that the photo was distasteful, and believes that it blackened both families with it.
