Text

Due to a long period of starvation, Glavas has lost weight and has trouble walking, but his vitals are stable, doctor Ivic said.

Head of Intensive Care Unit at Osijek hospital, Josip Ivic said tonight, after examining Croatian general Branimir Glavas, that he will remain in hospital until further notice, where they will attempt to stabilise his condition with treatment.

As Ivic told reporters, Glavas has lost a lot of weight because of starvation and he has trouble walking, but he is conscious and his vital signs are stable.

- We will take all intensive care treatment measures to improve his state – Ivic pointed put, however did not wish to speculate on  how long it will take him to fully recover.

He added Glavas did not request any special treatment, but seeing how he is in the intensive care unit, visits are limited to only closest family members.

General Branimir Glavas, member of parliament, has been on trial for allegedly ordering the killing of Serb civilians in the eastern town of Osijek in 1991. He has been on hunger strike for two months, ever since he was imprisoned pending and during trial. His health has severely deteriorated and he has been in and out of hospital.
