Even though salaries have grown by 1,000 kuna in the last 5 years, that money buys a lot less than five years ago, say the SDP party.
The SDP (Social Democratic Party) presented their campaign “Idemo dolje” (We are going down) with a detailed view of living standards and the growth of prices and basic living needs, like milk, electricity, petrol and oil.
- We simply want to show that despite the fact that average salaries have risen by 1,000 kuna in the last five years, that average salary can buy a lot less goods compared to the average wage five years ago – said SDP member Daniel Mondekar.
He added that his party colleague Davor Bernardic calculated how much a litre of oil and milk went up in price, as well as the price of bread.
- These measures by the government will not allow the citizens to live as they did five years ago – says Mondekar.
SDP presented two solutions that they intend on presenting to parliament, to make tax breaks on contributions , in order to increase the net salary and in order to improve the situation of businessmen.
- The budget only grow because of the taxes, the budget did not grow because of incredibly successful projects – considers Mondekar. He warns that the government sells oil to INA that comes from Croatia, at a price of 9 dollars per barrel, and then Ina sells it for the same price as the oil that comes from Arab countries. Besides that, cities and local governments will have to pay more for public street lighting.
- The Cabinet tells everyone that they will help, but they only enforce tax upon tax – concluded Mondekar.
