INFLUENCING VOTERS
NOVEMBER 25 2007 12:42h
Text
At many locations posters were put up, leaflets handed out, text messages urging people to vote were sent, which citizens reported to GONG.
Yesterday the GONG association (Citizens Organised to Monitor Voting) registered numerous calls from citizens about violations of the media ban by political parties but also by the Croatian Post company, since party commercials could be seen at post offices across Croatia on the day of the media ban in the country.
In many locations, posters were put up and text messages urging people to vote were sent. Party activists posted leaflets and other advertising materials in post inboxes.
The media also violated the media ban, namely, Slobodna Dalmacija and Vecernji list dailies in their foreign issues. Most complaints about the violation of the media ban were made on account of the Indeks.hr news portal for their broadcasting of Miroslav Skoro’s concert that was held as part of a party’s electoral rally.
