USKOK in investigating the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure for corruption, At least one person has been arrested.
ZAGREB, CROATIA - At least one person has been arrested at the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure on Tuesday in a joint operation by the police and the Office for the Prevention of Corruption and Organised Crime (USKOK).
As we find out, the operation was started over suspicions of corruption at the ministry, while unofficially, we find out that issuing out permits for vessels is in question.
The arrested person in being linked to selling permits for operating vessels, however, the police do not wish to reveal any details yet. According to the Jutarnji list daily, the arrested man is a head at one of the ministry`s departments and he worked on affairs regarding permits for vessels.
The man in question was arrested during night in his apartment in Zagreb. Furthermore, the operation has also encompassed several persons of the Koprivnica-Krizevci County, who have also been arrested and according to the Jutarnji list, the man in question is the manager of an Auto club, as well as recently arrested Drazen Karlovcan, head of the Djurdjevac Open University. He was linked with selling degrees, diplomas and driver`s licenses.
According to received information, the campaign was collaboration between the police, USKOK and the Ministry itself, while the public will subsequently be notified of the concrete results.
