The environment minister admitted that the margin of hazardous gasses in the air in Sisak was surpassed.
Environment Protection Minister Marina Matulovic Dropulic announced at a government session that all Sisak refinery plants will be connected to de-sulphurising by August.
In her report to the government, she stressed that the Ina oil company had fulfilled its obligations regarding the rehabilitation of the refinery in Sisak and the environment protection inspection had conducted controls a dozen times.
Also, a ministry task force in was formed with the cooperation of the health ministry, Sisak-Moslavina County and the mayor of Sisak with the aim of monitoring events in this central Croatian town.
Dropulic admitted that the concentration of hazardous gasses had exceeded the margins in Sisak. Health Minister Neven Ljubicic announced a probe into the rate of cancer-related mortality in the town.
