HNS Is Not Negotiating With HDZ!

After media claims that HDZ is playing a double game, i.e. negotiating with HSS-HSLS and HNS, they dismiss speculation.

Croatian People`s Party (HNS) spokesperson Mladen Ruzman denied claims today, published in the daily press, that his pary is discussing a coalition with the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), pointing out that HNS Presidency unanimously supported tendencies for a left centre coalition to be formed, with the Social Democratic Party (SDP) as a partner.

- I absolutely deny any discussions on this matter – Ruzman said.

-Our position is the same as it was three months ago and nothing has changed in relation to this. HNS spokesperson Ruzman pointed out.

When asked if HNS will negotiate with HDZ if any possibility of creating a left coalition fails, he replied that HNS has proved to be good and constructive opposition and that it will be this once again.

HDZ president Ivo Sanader dismissed the same speculations anent the annual Croatian Helsinki Committee award ceremony as inaccurate, and that HDZ is only negotiating with the green-yellow coalition.

When asked to comment if his closest associated are “working on HNS and HDZ bringing together their positions”, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic replied:

- This is not accurate, it would be a great surprise for my advisors to do something and I was unaware of it. Since I don`t know, this means they are not working on it -.
