Tonci Tadic announced to request the founding of a national consortium to secure the liberalisation of the telecommunications market.
According to the plan, the state-owned consortium would enable lower prices of fixed telephone calls and the Internet.
“Companies such as the HEP (electrical utility company), HZ (Croatian Railways), Croatian Highways and PLINACRO (gas supplier) have optical cable systems used by only a small number of operators in line with special contracts”, Tadic said. He added that it was the goal of the Croatian Party of Rights (HSP) to connect the networks into a national consortium.
The consortium would be managed by a special agency, while possible disputes would be resolved by the Croatian Agency for Telecommunications, he said.
Tadic is convinced that such a move would result in the complete liberalisation of the telecommunications market. He advocates that a law stipulate that local self-governments have the right to 25 percent of companies it their areas.
