HSS with Protest Caps for 0.5‰

Text

As a symbol of protest, HSS members will wear caps with a sign of 0.5‰ with a hope to stir sympathy with former vine lover, Seks.

For more quality changes of the Law on Road Safety, which could result in more security on the roads with fewer accidents, HSS (Croatian Peasants’ Party) is asking of the government to present a report on the road safety situation.

Lousy roads are to blame

-It is unfair that Croatian drivers are blamed for 95% of accidents, even though the biggest problems are badly projected, constructed and maintained roads. After improvement of some black points, there are 90% less accidents with fatal outcome – said Zeljko Pecek, at today’s press conference. He said that the law, which is in effect from 2004, did not have any results, quite the contrary, the number of accidents in which young drivers were involved, increased.

HSS considers it as injustice that drivers with 0.5‰ of alcohol in their blood are tagged, even though there are no data on how much influence it has on safety on roads.

-Instead of building training grounds for testing young drivers and teaching them in safety driving, we invest money in expensive interceptors, beyond the regulations on Law on Public Procurement. They patrol on the roads with fewer accidents – said Pecek, adding that the interceptors function is to collect the money, not to reduce the number of accidents.

Appeal for the former vine lover Seks

Because their bill on rescinding provision laid down by law of 0.0‰ of alcohol in the blood has been waiting three years for discussion in parliament, HSS will wear caps with ‘0.5‰’ sign so they could influence  ‘former colleague vine lover’ Vladimir Seks.
