Granules of dissipated oil have reached the Pical and Spadici beaches due to wind, sticking to swimmers.
POREC, CROATIA – After a huge fuel oil has contaminated the Adriatic Sea near Cape Zub yesterday, two miles long and half a mile wide, its granules have reached and polluted beaches in Porec.
The wind carried smaller clusters of granules yesterday near the Pical beach. Surprised swimmers got out of the sea, covered in oily stains. Most of them subsequently heard what had happened.
Today morning, the granules appeared on the Spadici beach, where smaller cluster can still be found on the rocks.
- Big black oily spots were two metres away from the coast, I didn`t spot them until I got out of the water – says Stipe Delisimovic.
He was swimming on the Spadici beach, in front of the Tequila bar, which he owns. In the nearby shop, we find out that there were more swimmers who came to the shop, covered in oil stains, asking the shop assistant if they can remove them with sun screen.
