The controversial singer years gave an interview in which he said that all the allegations against him are coming from the President.
Marko Perkovic Thompson, a singer who is often accused of promoting somewhat fascist sentiments, decided to give an interview for the Croatian National Television (HRT). After ten years of avoiding this TV station, he finaly decided to participate in the show called VipMusic Club LP which will be aired on Thursday. The show host, Andelo Jurkas, claims that Thompson touched on various topics, including the prohibition of the Ustasha ideology and prohibition of his concerts.
Although he is accused of chauvinism and extreme right-wing views, the singer views himself as apolitical, and claims that he distances himself from the fascist ideology. He believes that he is a victim of vicious attacks, and explains that he does not understand why his performances raise so much dust; when he only wants to be a songwriter.
He also said that he does not rule out the possibility of performing in Serbia, because he, as an apolitical guy has no problem with other nationalities. However, he holds that he doesn’t have much audience in the neighborhood, so he performs only in places where there are Croats, writes Jutarnji List.
‘Everything is coming from the office of President Mesic’
Thompson does not see any problem in the Ustasha cry ‘Za dom spremni’ (ready to defend the homeland) because he regards it as the old Croatian greeting that has no connection with any of the ideologies. Iconography he uses, in his opinion, is fair, and he believes that his human rights are breached with all the current proceedings.
But in the end, he claims that ‘at least now it was revealed that everything is coming from the office of President Mesic and his advisers’, and he does not understand why his people hate him. Thompson explains Mesic’s alleged behavior by the fact that they have different political views, but he once again highlights that he considers himself apolitical.
He stressed that his musical influences include: AC / DC, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, and he said that he doesn’t try to copy anybody. In addition, he said that he was working on a new album, and that he did not know when it would come out.
