If the accusations of paedophilia in the `Home of Charity` prove to be untrue, the Porec-Pula Diocese will press charges.
VODNJAN, CROATIA - If the accusations of alleged paedophilia at the “House of Charity” near Vodnjan prove to be untrue, the Porec-Pula Diocese will press charges against the mother and stepfather of the protégé whose story was reported by the media, said Ilija Jakovljevic, spokesperson of the Diocese in a telephone call on Friday.
He added that if her claims prove to be true, then the ac is to be condemned.
The case in being investigated after a 14-year-old home protégé said suspicious men hanged around the home and that a certain man named Zeljko took photos of her, as well as acted inappropriately, which was reported by a daily paper in Croatia. According to the paper, the case was reported by her mother and stepfather.
Jakovljevic points out that it should be looked into why social services urgently took away the girl from her mother and stepfather and placed her in the “House of Charity”.
- I don`t wish to insinuate anything, but the police need to determine if some for of abuse occurred in the family – Jakovljevic said, pointing out that the most important thing now for everyone is to protect the underage girl and provide her with help.
Croatian Ministry of Health and Social Services and the police are looking into the “House of Charity”. The results of the inquest will be presented at the start of next week, said the ministry`s spokesperson Zora Lazeta over the telephone.
Zeljko Zec, director of the Porec-Pula Diocese Caritas said that he has no information about the case, pointing out that he has never seen men hanging around the home at night, nor anything about the disputable Zeljko.
Seven protégés are currently situated in the children`s care home “House of Charity” and are looked after by nuns exclusively.
