Croatia’s president said that he will reveal the candidate he supports tomorrow and that his successor will have to work on the economy.
Croatia’s current President, Stjepan Mesić, said that he was sorry that Croatia did not join the EU during his term and how this would the job for our future President and the Government.
Stjepan Mesic voted at the Petar Zrinski St where he gave support for the candidate whose name he plans to reveal tomorrow, Vecernji List writes.
He added that he would advise his successor if he or she ever requested this. He added that he expects the new President to adhere to the Constitution and laws, because this can help Croatia.
He adds that he is leaving the post of the Croatian President in a time of crisis because the recession is not only import, but how we are partly to blame for the poor state of the Croatian economy.
The new president will work with Government, national and international global institutions such as IMF, World Bank and European Development Bank in an attempt to overcome the crisis. Mesic also believes that Croatia took too many loans and failed to transform from import-based economy to a stronger exporter.
