Imotski Revellers Set `Borat Pahor` Afire

Text

Carnival processions often reflect the current political and social state. This year, Borat Pahor was set afire in Imotski.

IMOTSKI, CROATIA - The traditional `Bakova procession` took place in Imotski on Tuesday, the last day of Carnival. Masked groups and individuals presented themselves to the public, while this year, the scapegoat for all the problems was `Borat Pahor`, who was set afire in the main city square.

According to the Imotski website, more and more citizens take part in the carnival every year.

- Put your coat on backwards – this is the formula for the revellers, used every year. Many locals from nearby villages also take part in the carnival, thus giving the procession an entirely new dimension.

Carnival processions often reflect the current political and social state. Themes used to create masks, as well as the other contents like theatre plays which are held, are closely linked with the social and political life of Imotski, this is why it is no wonder that Borat Pahor was set afire in Imotski this year.

The traditional `Bakova procession` is the pinnacle of the carnival festivities in Imotski, which has a 100-year tradition of organising this event.
