As of Saturday, 5th and 6th reduction degrees will come into power, which means gas will be cut off for the industry but not for households.
ZAGREB, CROATIA – Since the moment the Croatian government has declared a state of emergency in gas supply, despite gas being cut off from Russia, the measures the government has undertaken have secured stability in gas supply.
But today’s extremely low temperatures that have a direct impact on gas usage, as well as some not abiding by rules for states of emergency, the expected results have lacked.
Ten percent increase of gas usage registered in Zagreb
The worst situation is in Croatia’s capital where a ten percent increase in gas usage has been registered in relation to the announced maximum usages from the emergency plans. Increased gas spending was also registered in Varazdin, Osijek and Vinkovci.
The Croatian Economy Ministry informs gas users that circumstances have arose due to which the measures of reducing the supply of natural gas for certain categories are insufficient to balance the gas system.
Factories without gas
With the aim of further reductions, as of 8am on Saturday, measures of the 5th and 6th degrees will come into effect, which is necessary to maintain the pressure in the system from pumping gas from the pipeline’s accumulative reserves.
This means that all factories will be left without gas. But protected users, such as schools, hospitals and households will keep receiving gas.
The ministry appeals on citizens to use all available fuels rationally because every degree in households is a great contribution.
