Former high official of the Serbian Interior Ministry believes that Pukanic`s murder was connected with the general Zagorec case.
Croatian police suspects that members of the “Zemun Clan” are involved in the murder of Ivo Pukanic, Press Online reports. The Croatian Interior Ministry has information that the main executioner of the Zemun Clan, Sretko Kalinic, was spotted in Croatia last week. Serbian police have offered help in the investigation, Serbian Minister Ivica Dacic said.
- We are trying to help in all possible ways. We gave made all operative information on organised crime in the region available. We are doing all we can. By chance, the director of our police Milorad Veljovic visited Croatia on the day Pukanic was killed on another matter. After the murder, he spoke with the Croatian colleagues and offered help – Dacic said.
However, former official of the Serbian Interior Ministry Bozo Prelevic said that Pukanic`s murder was just one in a line of clearing underground issues. He pointed out that it is easiest for politicians to cast doubt Serbia and Montenegro.
- This is not the first, and it look like, not the last murder. The key Croatian scandal is connected with the disappearance of diamonds intended for financing the Croatian Army. I remind that some ten days ago, the daughter of general Zagorec`s attorney was killed, while Zagorec is suspected of stealing these diamonds – Prelevic said, adding that Pukanic was a well informed man.
- It is a much rarer thing that someone is killed over a published article, while it is often the case with something that is supposed to be published – said the former Serbian Interior Ministry official, adding he did not believe that Montenegrin Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic had something to do with the murder of Ivo Pukanic.
