It Is Time Premier and HDZ Went Away

Text

SDP president told HDZ to stop telling lies to Croatian citizens.

Social Democratic Party (SDP) president Zoran Milanovic said at a party rally in Velika Gorica it was high time Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) went away and that the question is if it there was time for them to obtain power at all.

Milanovic thanked HDZ for publicising SDP for free on their election posters, but he told them to stop telling lies to Croatian citizens that SDP wants to legalise drugs, impose new taxes and interests on savings.

- He pointed out that SDP is planning to decriminalise it, i.e. criminally pursue possessing light drugs, and not legalise drugs.

He also said that they are not planning to introduce interest on savings because it is hard to expect for citizens to have savings at all after four years of HDZ in power.

He repeated that SDP is planning to introduce taxes on share-holding, but not for those who obtain up to 50,000 kuna with trading shares per year, but just for speculator obtained property, i.e. tax for the rich.

- We want to impose taxes on those who can`t prove the origin of their property, like Sanader who has vast mobile and immobile property, which he keeps quiet about. This is tax on Sanader and those like him – said Milanovic.

- Don`t lie to the Croatian people because those 3,500 posters cost after all – he told HDZ.

Convinced of victory in the elections, Milanovic repeated that SDP will change the way voters vote in the 11th constituency, seeing how the current system is completely unsustainable, he pointed out.

- This is not a message of hatred or intolerance, but of reason, while HDZ sends out messages of plundering and misuse of Croats in Bosnia-Herzegovina – he said, telling Croats in BH that SDP`s government will help them, engaged and in a transparent fashion.

- We`ll dismiss these authorities because we are better, more hones and we know how, while they are corrupt, the don`t understand, don`t know and lie – he said.

SDP candidate for the prime minister post Ljubo Jurcic is also convinced SDP will form the new government and dismiss, as he said, inefficient and unsuccessful HDZ authorities.

He grounds his belief on the greatest indebtedness of citizen, the smallest amount of production and record foreign debt.

- If these authorities remain, Croatia has wasted its future already. We will develop a law-based state and not a political one like HDZ – Jurcic said.

Velika Gorica Mayor Tonino Picula addressed everyone gathered at the Open University, who will be the first person on SDP`s list for the 6th constituency, also accusing HDZ of corruption and poor state management for the citizens.

- Corruption is a system of governing for these authorities, HDZ roads and bridges don`t connect anything apart from public money and private pockets- Picula said.
