Results from the electoral commission in Pazin clearly indicate that the battle for Istria County prefect continues.
PULA, CROATIA – The first, incomplete and unofficial results from Istria County’s electoral commission say that Ivan Jakovcic and Plinio Cuccurin will fight for the position of county prefect in the second round of the local elections.
According to the latest results, Ivan Jakovcic got 47 percent of votes and Cuccurin follows him with 23 percent of votes won.
We spoke to both candidates, but all we could get out of the incumbent Istria County Prefect, Ivan Jakovcic, was that he expected an excellent result. Plinio Cuccurin was more talkative.
Istria will not be as it was yesterday. From now on, more care will be taken of transparency and the interest of citizens. We have managed to achieve what everybody thought impossible at the beginning.
- I am satisfied primarily because my list managed to get in power in five municipalities. It is evident that changes in Istria are underway. This is proven by data that we are the second largest group to enter the county assembly – Cuccurin told us.
He revealed to us also that if he goes through to the second round of elections for county prefect, he would use the same means of campaigning as hitherto because results show that citizens appreciate and recognise them.
- Istria will not be as it was yesterday. From now on, more care will be taken of transparency and the interest of citizens. We have managed to achieve what everybody thought impossible at the beginning – Cuccurin said.
Miletic stays in Pula, Krulcic is new mayor of Pazin
The results of local elections for the county assembly indicate that the IDS-HNS coalition with Damir Kajin at the helm has won 45 percent of votes, while Plinio Cuccurin’s independent coalition list got 17 percent of votes. The HDZ-HSS coalition led by Lino Cervar got the support of 11 percent of voters.
In Pula, nothing has changed. Current Mayor Boris Miletic, candidate of the IDS-SDP coalition, is celebrating in his headquarters for getting another four-year stint as mayor.
In Pazin, however, important changes occurred. The town’s mayor, Neven Rimanic, will be succeeded by Renato Krulcic from the IDS, who won 57 percent of votes. The HDZ’s candidate managed to win 38 percent of votes.
