Montenegro President Vujanovic says that Montenegro attacked Croatia because it was swayed by the Yugoslav Army and intelligence agencies.
For the first time since Montenegro became independent, President Filip Vujanovic visited Croatia.
He met with President Mesic and the two colleagues pointed out that unresolved issues, which they were both ready to deal with, did not impede good relations.
Croatia does not have any unsolvable problems
- Croatia does not have any unsolvable problems with any of the neighbouring countries and the questions that seem unsolvable are really the consequence of the lack of political will, political courage, or vision – stressed Mesic.
He added that the issue of the border with Montenegro in Prevlaka was temporarily resolved, but that it worked perfectly and that there was no need to add any kind of tension.
In the source of their conversation, Vujanovic and Mesic reminded one another of their two initiatives that had been accepted by the state governments.
They are related to Montenegro's readiness to return the goods that had been taken from the Dubrovnik area and used by Montenegrin companies.
Vujanovic: Crimes must be punished
- The Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) and intelligence agencies swayed Montenegro and put it in a situation where it participated in the war in the Dubrovnik area, but Montenegro did not close its eyes to that page of its ugly history. Crimes must be punished – said Vujanovic.
He reiterated that Montenegro had publicly apologized for the Dubrovnik front and that it had also said that war crimes had been committed in the area that the perpetrators had to answer for before the Hague Tribunal.
The Montenegro President has also met with the Croatian Parliament President Vladimir Seks and he is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Sanader.
